Batch Reporting Procedures
After August 11, 2008, agents and insurers will have two options for filing policy data through the MSLA Surplus Lines Information Portal (SLIP): (1) enter policy and transaction data manually, or (2) submit policy data as a single XML file through HTTP.
Please select SLIP from the main menu to enter policy data manually. Tutorials are available on the Education page of this website and assistance is also available through the SLIP Help menu.
If you would prefer to report policy data as a single XML file, please review the documents below. The purpose of this documentation is to prepare architects, designers and developers with computer programming experience to prepare batch files for submission to MSLA. We assume the reader has an understanding of the XML and HTTP protocols.
We recommend testing new XML files on the SLIP TEST website to ensure validity prior to official submission through https://slip.msla.org. Contact MSLA for a link, username, and password to SLIP Test.
Note: The system will not accept Microsoft Excel files saved as XML Data or XML Spreadsheet file types. Please follow the format described in the documentation below to create an XML file from your database.

MSLA Agency List
The MSLA Agency List contains MSLA-assigned agency identification numbers for reporting purposes. MSLA agency numbers will be required for batch submissions.

Lloyd's Coverholder List
As of January 1, 2009, agents must provide the following information for policies insured by Lloyd's of London.
- Contract Number / Binding Authority Number
- Coverholder / U.S. Wholesaler Name
- MSLA Coverholder Number
The Coverholder Number is an identification number issued by MSLA. Please download the list below and locate the coverholders for binding authority policies. If a coverholder is not listed, contact Brandi Stoddard at MSLA (601) 713-1111, ext. 308.
Lloyd's Coverholder List
Please enter the following for open market policies:
- Contract Number = Policy Number
- Coverholder / U.S. Wholesaler Name = "Open Market Policies"
- MSLA Coverholder Number = CH000992
